All the services we carry out for production animals we of course provide for lifestyle farmers, albeit on a smaller scale.

The Good Life

We understand that many of our lifestyle farmers have moved rurally from the city. We enjoy the challenges this presents and encourage you to ask plenty of questions. Several of our vets reside on lifestyle blocks themselves and are a good source of general advice on surviving and enjoying your new lifestyle.

Services provided include:

Dehorning and castrating, all performed under local anaesthesia
Emergency work such as lambings, calvings, in-field Caesarians etc
Pregnancy testing
Advice on general animal health issues, nutrition, trace elements and parasite prevention
We get presented with a surprisingly large number of sick pet chickens, and our skills in this field are forever improving.

A Growing Population

Alpacas are good grazers, don’t pug up the ground like cattle, and are nice animals to be around. Our skills in this field are ever-expanding to keep pace with the growing population.

We often get alpacas brought into our clinic if they are halter trained. This is particularly useful for radiography or surgical cases.

Dentistry as needed, including the grinding of maloccluded incisors
Castration of males (done under general anaesthesia)
Foot trimming
Routine assistance with vaccinations, ADE and drench administration
Soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery
